Dr. Lance Thurman, Superintendent

Dr. Thurman has been formally leading teams or organizations since 1988. His organizations have been recognized as an U.S. News and World Report Silver Medal Best High School (2013), AP Honor Roll school (2012), and the Chicago Sun Times Top 50 High School (2004). 

Additionally, Dr. Thurman has received individual awards that include: B. L. Dodds Scholarship (UIUC), Dr. Fred Singleton Professional Development Scholarship (IPA) and Dr. Thomas Meighan Scholarship in Special Education (WIU). He frequently presents to educational groups and consults with school districts with a focus on leadership and is a published researcher on Educational Leadership ("Educational Considerations", Kansas State University Journal, Spring 2015). 

Dr. Thurman is a frequent presenter at the state and national level where he has presented for the Illinois Principals Association, the Illinois affiliate of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the University Council for Educational Administration.
